Arashi no Shukudai-kun #033

Aired On: May 21st, 2007
The guest this time is TOKIO's Kokubun Taichi! To tell the truth, the first thing I thought when watching this again is, "wow, he looked so young...", haha. ^^;; I always love it when any of the JE senpais or kouhais appear on Arashi's shows, despite not really being a JE fan in general (I only really like Arashi). This is because their interactions with other Johnnys are always amusing to watch, I suppose.
Anyway, Kokubun Taichi's request for the audience is to find different kinds of salads from all over the world. I was so relieved with this request, really - vegetables should be safe, right. Right? Not that it's not interesting to see them eat weird food, but as an animal lover, some of the episodes were just painful to watch. (I'm still a bit traumatised from the sparrow.) These salads were introduced by women from the respective countries - the first being from Belarus, a salad made of beets. Next is a Bulgarian salad served with Sirene, a cheese that was marinated in saltwater. I'd like to try this someday! Then, Paumid salad from Costa Rica, made from the core of palm trees. I didn't even know that they could be eaten. I love Kokubun's reaction - "kore wa zenzen oishii desu ne!" I suppose the usage of zenzen+something positive wasn't so all over the place back then since it still jarred to Jun and was highlighted in the tv text. Although I seem to remember everyone speaking that way back then. I know this is completely off-topic, but this really brings back memories.
Next is the "image shukudai" - definitely interesting when Kokubun started talking about when Nino asked him out for dinner and didn't treat him as a senpai at all, and the Johnny's party that never happened. Amusing story, but imagine if they have actually managed to get everyone to show up. Imagine the stories that would have been told then... (*_*).
And then, of course, the, uhm - I call it their "whatever goes" section XP. In this episode they decided on a Johnny's Sports Relay, where they all compete as individuals. The first race is a 25m run, where they run 5 laps around a 5m rug? Hahahaha. Sho went overboard and ran 6 laps. Aiba claimed that he'd finish in less than 10 seconds, but made it in 11.18. He still ended up being the fastest, though! The next and last race is the "Within-Nittere (NTV) borrowing race" in which they have to find/borrow items that they draw out in lots. These were the things they were supposed to find:
Sho - Three bad points about Aiba, as told by the staff of TSD. (To which Aiba responded that he didn't have any bad points to speak of :p) This ended up being pretty easy, as all he had to do was find the TSD staff and ask them. Aiba's bad points: 1 - What's up with the blond hair?, 2 - His English doesn't make sense, 3 - He doesn't seem to realise he's an idol.
Ohno - A celebrity from a dressing room. (HAHA) First he found Kyain's dressing room, but there was no one there. Then he found one with the comedian Antonio Koinoki. He asked Antonio-san to come with him to the studio, but was refused - since Antonio-san had his own show to go to, after all. But then Ohno offered him 1000 yen, and somehow managed to bring Antonio-san to the Shukudai set.
Nino - Soy sauce (wtf? How is this equal to the above challenges?). First he tried Arashi's dressing room, but there were no soy packages with their bento. Then he started wandering and asking around. For some reason, he didn't think of the cafetaria. After rummaging around, he did manage to find a soy package, though!
Kokubun - Someone with the same family name. (Ahhhh it would have been much easier if Jun or Oh-chan got that one, since their names are more common.) He walked around asking if there were anyone named Kokubun, and even called out "Kokubun-san?" as he wandered, hoping that someone would answer. After some time he asked a staff to help him, and he was given the suggestion to look under the company staff's phone directory, which he did. He couldn't find any, though, and gave up.
Jun - Go to the Gurunai staff room to ask for three bad points about Kokubun Taichi. (He, too, said that he may not have bad points.) Same as Sho's, all he had to do was find the staff. They say: 1 - Kokubun had been saying that he was good at doing the MC by himself of late, 2 - Kokubun thinks that it's his reactions were the thing that made the show last, and 3 - One of the staff said, that Kokubun hadn't talked to him in the five years he'd worked in the same show.
Aiba - Rain boots. (Huh. No comment.) He first went to the cafetaria to see if any kitchen staff were wearing boots, but there were none. After trying out different places, he finally found boots from the Shukudai-kun staff room.
