Arashi no Shukudai-kun #038

Monday, September 16, 2013

Aired On: June 25th, 2007

Aaand today, I continue my Shukudai-kun project! It's a good time to continue, really, since I haven't been watching Arashi in awhile, and I need a dose of them in my life. Their shows are now mostly uploaded on Mega, which I can't use, so I haven't been stalking for new episodes as I used to. I can no longer watch live streaming, either - the links I used to use no longer work (;_;). That, plus the fact that majority of my friends are now off the fandom, meant that I didn't have much to keep me in it. I still miss watching their shows, though!

The guests this episode is the comedy duo Penalty, consisting of Hide and Wakky.  When they came out of the box, they noticed that the set was devoid of the usual sofas. Sho explained that because they were known for their physical strength, they thought they'd use the show to highlight that XD. (Does this mean Baka Undokai? Yaaay!!)

Penalty's homework for the audience: find and report on unusual stamina foods that make you strong. They explained that they wanted food to help beat summer fatigue. So Aiba introduced the first food item, which is a prime rib. It looked very juicy, but really I can't deal with so much meat. (I'm such a picky eater) The second item introduced is an unagi don served in "Italian fashion". It has lots of cheese, it seems, and I don't know... from my experiences eating at Sushi King, I don't think I like cheese on stuff like eel or fish (>_<). But they said it was yummy! Next, Aiba introduced the third food - ostrich egg. Which they drank raw. Umm... no. I just can't. I'm not into any of the food in this episode, I'm afraid. But then they introduced ochazuke - except that instead of using normal ocha, it's a different kind of tea - which apparently tasted pretty bad. Except when Ohno ate it, because Ohno could eat anything, lol.

After that... ahahaha. It was the "image" corner and one of the images sent in from the audience is that Penalty were stopped by children and asked to do gags, which was when they started showing some of their gags, including their new one, the "happy frog". YES - the introduction of the "happy frog"! :D The audience enjoyed it, so they asked one of Arashi to do the gag, picking on MatsuJun. It was priceless :D :D

The image section was followed with Baka Undokai (yay!), in which they did the depth binoculars game, which was on by Penalty, and the NTV Scavenger Hunt (one of my favourite games!) Only four of them are in the hunt:

Nino had to look for - two people in suits who will do Wakky's "Ghost's ambulance", which is one of the gags introduced earlier. He approached the first man he saw wearing a suit, but was quickly rejected. He then went into an office area, where he met someone he knew - who was in a suit. So he went to the guy (Sugamo-san) and asked him to do the gag.

Ohno had to look for - staff working with MatsuJun on Bambino! (the drama he was in at the time) who would share surprising sides of him. He set off for Bambino!'s staff room, but had difficulty looking for it. But he persevered and finally found it, instantly asking the staff for three surprising sides of MatsuJun. One of them told him that MatsuJun got really cranky in the mornings. Ohno just nodded and said, "oh, I know", haha.

Hide had to look for - NTV program character goods. (So easy! NTV shop...) He basically just ran around looking for them.

Wakky had to look for - three photos of NTV female announcers making weird faces. He went to the announcers' department and explained what he needed.

(Can I just take a moment to appreciate Shukudai-kun staff's awesome music taste? I mean, they had The Pipettes on their opening, and during the scavenger hunt they played Rancid's Time Bomb. Love!)

Hide-san was the first to arrive back at Shukudai-kun's studio, followed by Nino, and Wakky. Hide-san brought back a Conan plushie, and a cute Nittere-chin, the mascot for NTV. (I guess this was before Da Bear?) Then it was Nino's turn, and true enough, the two suited men he brought back with him (including Sugamo-san) did Wakky's Ghost ambulance gag. Next is Wakky-san's turn. Penalty would win the game if he got the three pictures - and he did! So Team Penalty wins the game!

It was only after all this that Ohno returned with his task of finding three surprising things about MatsuJun. (1) He's cranky in the morning; when he takes off his hat, he looks like a peacock. XDD (2) He hates losing; he had a race with a staff member to see who'd finish a Rubik's cube faster. (3) He remembers all the staff's names. Ohno then relayed Jun's new drama schedule to him from Bambino's assistant producer, which made everyone laugh.

Loved this ep <3

相葉マナブ [2013.04.21]

Saturday, May 4, 2013

Aired On: 21st April, 2013

The first episode of Aiba's own show! I guess this means that Aiba's in two variety shows without Arashi, huh. This one should prove interesting to fans as it aims to explore Japanese culture. In this first episode, we learn about Japanese food.

Popcorn DVD

Friday, April 26, 2013

My copy arrived today! It was totally unexpected, since YesAsia has been pretty slow with their delivery for the last few things I've ordered, but when I was coming in from lunch the receptionist told me that I had a delivery. Yay!

I'm not so sure about the "special packaging"; looks like one of the boxes they sell the bootleg editions in, here, and I'm concerned about possibly damaging it if I handle it too often when I'm taking the DVD out of the box to watch it. While I'm not keen on boxes and slip cases overall, I would prefer a box like Arafes' to this one. But I do like the booklet. I LOVE the booklet. It's cute, even if the paper kind of curls up if I leave it on the table for awhile.

The concert itself is amazing, of course. Because the track list is very similar to the one I went to, this brings back lots of memories.

Going to watch it again now!

Popcorn DVD cover revealed!

Tuesday, April 2, 2013

Yes, I'm probably late again. I didn't even notice anyone talking about the covers on twitter or anything. But when I was at Johnny's Net looking for the price for the 8EST dvd, I came across this. I love the covers! The stage of the concert was made to look like a popcorn factory, so the cover suits the feel of the concert :D

As for the contents - the regular edition will include a poster, while the limited has special packaging and a 60-page booklet. Which is nice and all, but - I guess I'm used to buying limited editions from my other favourite groups now, and Arashi always falls short when it comes to the extras. Oh well. I'm still looking forward to this the most!

Popcorn DVD finally announced :)

Saturday, March 23, 2013

Yes, the news has been out for over a week now. The Popcorn DVD's finally announced! It will be released on April 24th, yay! I'm really looking forward to this one. I have been spending a lot on CDs lately and can't really afford to get this DVD and Kanjani8's 8EST both, and I thought I'd get Popcorn, but the wait for it to be announced was excruciating. Just one day before the announcement was made, I was thinking, if Popcorn wasn't announced by the end of March I would get 8EST instead. But I guess that's not happening XD

As always, the preorder links for YesAsia only came up when I was out for lunch. Thankfully, this time I had twitter on, so I received Shi-chan's message about it, and was able to place an order for the LE.

This week marks the last episode of Himitsu no Arashi-chan (I haven't forgotten that the main reason I started this blog is to talk about watching their shows :p), which saddens me. While Arashi ni Shiyagare had been my favourite variety show of theirs for awhile, Himitsu immediately took over when they started the Share House segment. I loved Share House, and would rather have an entire Share House show than all the other segments. And apparently the last episode had them moving out of the shared house. (T_T) I haven't watched it yet, but I will. Soon.

I've only watched Last Hope up to episode 7, because for some reason I'm no longer able to watch it by streaming. I guess I'll wait for Stormy's releases to watch the rest. I've seen a CM of Sho's Kazoku Game, and it's definitely looking like something I'd want to watch. I'm excited about Platina Data (and wish I could go watch it >_<) and can't wait for NazoDi as well as Hidamari no Kanojo, but what I'm looking forward to the most right now? News about their next album, if any, and/or Arafes, because I'm really curious about when they're going to do it when their schedule seem so packed. And of course, the Popcorn DVD. Yay again for it finally being announced!

Calling/Breathless Covers

Saturday, February 16, 2013

The covers were revealed... yesterday? A few days ago? I don't remember. I was at work, as usual, and although I went to J-Storm to take a look, I didn't even take the time to tweet about it. I did talk to Salwa about them last night, though, since she hasn't seen them yet. She asked me what I thought, and I said, "...they're okay, I guess." I don't know. I guess to me, it's another cover with their photo on the jacket. Since I'm not the type who'd go, "[insert bias] is cuter in this one, so I like this one more" or "how come [insert bias] isn't the centre?" *shrugs* I prefer the quirky kind of covers, like the Popcorn LE, really. But the covers aren't why I buy the CDs, and seeing the covers is still an exciting thing for a fan! So.

photos totally taken from j-storm
LE A contains "Calling" and "Breathless", their karaoke versions, and the "Calling" PV. LE B contains "Breathless" and "Calling", their karaoke versions, and the "Breathless" PV. The regular edition doesn't contain PVs, but has two coupling songs, "Allright!!" and "full of love". I'm hoping the latter isn't a ballad XD

I have all three on pre-order, although my orders for the LEs are of YesAsia restocks so I'm not confident I'll get them until I received a notice saying they've shipped - since I encountered problems when I pre-ordered restocks of Meikyu Love Song, once. They'll be released on March 6th; I can't wait! (I also can't wait for the PVs to be out - I heard that they might be, but nothing on LJ so far, and I really dislike browsing through the Tumblr tags... so I don't know.)

Good news, bad news

Friday, January 11, 2013

So I missed out on the pre-orders for Arashi's new single. And I'm really upset about that. But when I got home today I received a package from Illy! My Popcorn earphone jack (Tokyo) is here! Going to start using it tomorrow; right now I'm still using Sapporo's.

And yes. I'm still upset about the pre-orders.

40th single announced!

Thursday, January 10, 2013

Nobody's really surprised (I think), but anyway, Arashi has announced their new single, Calling, which will be out on March 6th. Calling will be the theme song to Aiba's winter drama, Last Hope.

This is also the second time Arashi will be having a song with the same title as a flumpool song XD

While I'm looking forward to the new single (especially since it's supposedly going to be a rock tune?), March is a long way away. Sure, there will be Last Hope to entertain me while waiting - not to mention all the performances! - but I'm greedy, and can't wait. In the meantime, I'm re-organising my CD collection...

I'm still missing Sunrise Nippon and Pikanchi Double, though.

Edit, January 11th - more information on the new single. Apparently it's a double A-side single, with the songs Calling/Breathless which means TWO LEs! Each LE will have their respective PVs as an extra, while the RE version will have two extra songs not included in the LE.
